Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 2026
1. Introduction
Weisenheimer ("Every day a bit wiser") is a visual knowledge quiz app covering geography, art, nature, culture,
design, and more. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how it is stored, and how it is used.
By using Weisenheimer, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Data We Collect
We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide the service:
-
Account information (if you sign in): your name, email address, and profile picture,
as provided by your sign-in provider (currently Google). Sign-in is entirely optional.
-
Quiz progress: your scores and levels completed per category.
We do not collect:
- Location data
- Contacts or address book data
- Device identifiers beyond what Firebase Authentication provides
- Any data that tracks you across other apps or websites
3. How Data Is Stored
-
On your device: quiz progress is saved locally using browser storage (localStorage).
This data stays on your device unless you sign in.
-
In the cloud (signed-in users only): progress is also stored in Google Firebase
Firestore so it can sync across your devices. Firebase is a cloud database service operated by Google,
with servers in the EU and US. For information on Google's data practices, see the
Firebase Privacy and Security documentation.
4. How Data Is Used
- To save and sync your quiz progress across sessions and devices
- To display your name and profile picture when you are signed in
We do not:
- Sell, share, or transfer your data to any third parties
- Use your data for advertising or marketing purposes
- Use analytics or tracking tools (no Google Analytics, no ad SDKs, no crash reporters)
5. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Weisenheimer is designed for users of all ages, including children. We are committed to protecting
children's privacy.
- Sign-in is entirely optional — the app is fully functional without creating an account
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent
-
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child under 13 has provided us with personal
information, please contact us (see Section 9) and we will delete it promptly
6. Data Deletion
-
In the app: you can delete your account and all associated data at any time through
Settings → Delete Account. This removes your data from both your device and our cloud database.
-
Progress only: you can clear all quiz progress without deleting your account via
Settings → Reset All Progress.
-
By email: you can also request data deletion by contacting us at the address in Section 9.
7. Data Security
- We use Firebase Authentication and Firestore security rules to ensure only you can access your data
- All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the
top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
